MODBUS CLIENT

One Modbus workspace from first packet to repeatable test

A useful Modbus client has to do more than return a list of numbers. Busloom keeps the register map, engineering values, wire traffic, diagnostics, recordings, and test procedures in the same project so that the setup remains understandable after the commissioning session ends.

01

Read without hiding the protocol

Create source views for coils, discrete inputs, holding registers, or input registers. Busloom shows both the documentation notation and the zero-based PDU address, while Raw Traffic preserves function codes, TX/RX bytes, timings, exceptions, and malformed responses.

  • FC01, FC02, FC03, and FC04 reads
  • FC05, FC06, FC15, and FC16 writes
  • RTU, TCP, and Modbus/TCP Security (TLS)
  • Decoded values beside original words and bits
02

Turn a successful read into a reusable project

Connection profiles, views, tags, trends, import presets, and automation are stored in a reviewable .busloom.json file. Live samples and traffic remain session data until you explicitly record or export them.

03

Use the same evidence when something goes wrong

Connection Health separates protocol exceptions from timeouts, CRC failures, and transport errors. Auto Scan finds readable ranges; Register Inspector proves byte order and scaling; Replay opens a saved capture without reconnecting to the device.

QUESTIONS

Before you connect.

Does Busloom work with ordinary USB–RS485 adapters?+

Yes. RTU uses normal serial ports and commodity adapters; no proprietary interface is required.

Can Busloom connect through a Modbus TCP gateway?+

Yes. Configure the gateway host and port, then use the Unit ID expected by the downstream device.

Is Busloom free?+

Community is free for private, non-commercial use. Professional is a $149 one-time license for commercial work and unlocks automation, CLI, MCP, and local project Git.
