Choose a portable or installed package
Download the AppImage, allow the file to run as a program in its file permissions, then launch it. For Debian or Ubuntu, download the DEB and install it using the system package installer so required dependencies can be resolved.
Both packages target x86_64. Choose the format supported by your workstation's distribution and software policy.
Make serial permissions explicit
Linux device permissions determine whether Busloom can open an RS-485 adapter. Check the owner and group of the actual serial device, then use your distribution's documented serial-access setup. The group name and rules vary between distributions.
After a group-membership change, sign out and back in before retrying. On a managed machine, ask its administrator to grant access to the required device.
- Confirm that the adapter has a device path
- Check that your user can open that device
- Re-select the local serial path in projects copied from another machine
Troubleshoot startup separately from the connection
If an AppImage does not launch, check its executable permission and the error reported when starting it from a terminal. If DEB installation reports missing dependencies, resolve them through the distribution's package manager.
For a blank window in a virtual machine, check guest tools and the graphics stack. Once the application opens, use the connection manual to select a serial port or network endpoint.
